MINDFULNESS - Body Awareness

Welcome to lesson 5 of the Introduction to Mindfulness course.

Up to now, we've been mostly working with mindfulness of the breath.

But today, we're going to do something a little bit different.

Today we're going to expand that awareness to the rest of your body, and practice something that's known as the body scan meditation.

This will help you cultivate more of a body awareness (why is that important? You’ll find out in the lesson).

Today’s lesson will take 21 minutes. Make sure you will not be disturbed, and...

Please take a moment and let me know, in a comment below,
what was your experience during the practice, and if you have any question.

I love to hear from you, and I respond to every comment...

  • Hanny Schouten says:

This meditation is so nice, I like it very much. I can feel my body very wel, thank you.

  • Marjolein Etten says:

I found this way harder than yesterday. The labeling technique worked very well for me.

This was different, perhaps because I couldn’t practice at my set time, perhaps because my husbands is making all kind of sounds downstairs, perhaps because it is almost new year’s eve, I don’t know, but I was pretty distracted this time.

I just need to practice some more I think, looking forward to the next lesson!

    • Vered Neta says:

Absolutely Marjolein. You just need to practice more, remember… Practice Makes Perfect, although we are not striving for perfection here in Mindfulness.

One of the things I love the most about Mindfulness is the fact that it’s OK NOT being able to succeed. It’s the fact that we learn to accept whatever happens as part of our experience without judging, comparing or making it good or bad.

Wishing you a fantastic New Year!

      • Marjolein Etten says:

Thank you so much! And a happy new year to you too!

  • More than relaxing like this kind of meditation ❤️

  • Milka Martijn says:

Thank you. This lesson was so nice.

I like the name body scan meditation. You know a lot of things come into place.
Sometimes I was feeling certain kinds of sensations I could not place when meditating, because I was always concentrating on my breath. But is nice to learn in your lessons the whole body counts. There is no right or wrong.

I learned already so much. I’m looking forward to the rest of the lessons

    • Vered Neta says:

That’s so good to hear Milka. The more you practice the Body Scan the more you will be able to notice the subtle sensations in your body.
More important you would be able to distance yourself and just observe them without becoming attached to them.

Keep up the good work and keep us posted how it goes.
